Teaser for the TeaserAugust 17th, 2006 | Posted By: Mike
I suppose that it isn’t particularly shocking that there’s been a dearth of skiing-related news to report in the middle of August; well aside from head-scratching reports of Lebanese ski tours suffering from a surprising lack of clientele and someone, apparently unaware of global warming and its soggy implications, buying Intrawest for a cool $2.8 billion USD — or the equivalent of about 47,000,000 lift tickets. However, sensing the onslaught of midsummer malaise, the ski film industry has unleashed their latest promotional trailers to remind us all of what we’d do if we had unlimited money, a nice tan, and a helicopter… that’s right, make movies. Stuck On The GridWarren Miller has gone Off The Grid (and I can barely stop myself from adding a “, Yo” to the end of that title) to make a film which seems pretty much identical to every other one he’s ever made. It doesn’t look bad by any means, but by this point, we all know exactly what to expect. However, it does contain a Golden Retriever, which I approve of whole-heartedly. “Maybe some sheep or something.”An even better ski movie trailer is brought to us by Teton Gravity Research for their film Anomaly. While their trailer is utterly lacking in the essential Golden Retriever goodness, it does make fun of just about every convention of a Warren Miller movie… with the surprising exception of WM’s sometimes ridiculously superficial philosophizing. Look for both films to be released later this fall. This entry was posted on Thursday, August 17th, 2006 at 2:27 am and is filed under Skiing Related, Miscellaneous.
