No Winter Love For LondonJanuary 1st, 2007 | Posted By: Mike
Say what you want about the legitimacy of global warming, but green Januaries are becoming a very disturbing trend for the city of London — a city situated within the Lake Huron snowbelt and which is usually covered by this point of the year. With rain on both Christmas and New Years Eve, it’s hardly surprising to hear that London “enjoyed” its warmest December on record. As such, Boler Mountain has yet to open, and likely won’t for a number of weeks (if at all). The club truly dodged a bullet by cancelling our previously scheduled trip to Blue Mountain, which was set to begin 12 days from now. “Ontario’s Premier Ski Resort” has only a loathsome 1 run open during a traditional peak period in their season, and you know they’re only maintaining that 1 run in order to claim that they’re actually open. It’s a sad thing indeed. Thankfully both Whiteface (27 runs open) and Mont-Tremblant (52 runs open) are faring much better than their Ontario counterparts, and still have many weeks to improve before our arrival.
