Tremblant Trip Wrap-Up

March 5th, 2007 | Posted By: Mike

Despite Tremblant’s reputation for being terribly windy and cold, we enjoyed four awesome days of skiing in the sunshine under blue skies. Click on the image below to view a selection of the hundreds of photos we took during our reading week trip to Quebec.

Whiteface Trip Gallery

The 2007 Eastern ski season was sure looking like a write-off until mid-January, but a few weeks of snow and snowmaking, plus some beautifully sunny weather made for an awesome trip to Lake Placid, NY. Click on the image below to visit our full gallery from the full gallery trip.

No Winter Love For London

January 1st, 2007 | Posted By: Mike

Say what you want about the legitimacy of global warming, but green Januaries are becoming a very disturbing trend for the city of London — a city situated within the Lake Huron snowbelt and which is usually covered by this point of the year. With rain on both Christmas and New Years Eve, it’s hardly surprising to hear that London “enjoyed” its warmest December on record. As such, Boler Mountain has yet to open, and likely won’t for a number of weeks (if at all).

The club truly dodged a bullet by cancelling our previously scheduled trip to Blue Mountain, which was set to begin 12 days from now. “Ontario’s Premier Ski Resort” has only a loathsome 1 run open during a traditional peak period in their season, and you know they’re only maintaining that 1 run in order to claim that they’re actually open. It’s a sad thing indeed.

Thankfully both Whiteface (27 runs open) and Mont-Tremblant (52 runs open) are faring much better than their Ontario counterparts, and still have many weeks to improve before our arrival.

Trip Spaces Very Limited

November 24th, 2006 | Posted By: Mike

As of Wednesday, November 22nd, there are only 5 spaces remaining for our Whiteface / Lake Placid trip, and only 6 spaces for Mont. Tremblant. If you intend to participate in either trip but have yet to place your deposit, we recommend taking care of it promptly. Payment instructions are available on each individual trip page.

We would also like to advise our members that the Campus Recreation Membership Services Desk has been requesting validation cards in addition to your student card when making payments. Given that a validation card is something that you can easily go through four years of university without ever using, a few of us have been caught by surprise by this odd requirement.
