Whiteface 2008

With snow starting to fall here in London, it is fitting to announce the first UWO Ski Trip of the season. From January 17th to the 20th, 2008, 16 members of the Club will have the opportunity to ski the slopes of Whiteface, NY, the site of the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games. Whiteface Mountain boasts the greatest vertical drop in the Eastern United States…1,045 meters. The cost for this trip is only $360.00, and it is first come, first serve. Therefore, the first 16 people to make a deposit at Campus Recreation in the basement of the UCC will be going! The deposit of $250.00 is due by December 6th at midnight! The remaining $110.00 will be due by January 10th at midnight.

Important Dates
December 6th – Deposit of $250.00 due
January 10th – Remaining $110.00 due
January 17th – 20th – SKI TRIP!!!!

Itinerary
January 17th – leave UWO at 12:30pm, arrive at Whiteface at 11:00pm
January 18th – SKI
January 19th – SKI
January 20th – SKI until 1:30pm, leave Whiteface by 2:30pm, arrive in London at 12:00am

This trip includes transportation, accommodations, lift tickets and meals on January 18th and 19th. You will not find a better price!

To register…
1. Go to the Campus Recreation Guest Services Desk in the basement of the UCC.
2. Register for Course No. 1391 in the Fall 2007 Registration Period ($250.00 deposit) by December 6th
3. Register for Course No. 1390 in the Winter 2008 Registration Period ($110.00 balance) by January 10th

Greetings to all Ski Club Enthusiasts

Firstly, thank you for joining! We will be kicking off our season immediately with our first social coming up this Wednesday at the Wave.

Where? The Wave, 2nd floor UCC
Why? Meet other people in the club, and possibly win a prize.

We will also be announcing details about our day trip to the Toronto Ski Show during this social on Wednesday.

Joining the Club
Another thing, for everyone that has yet to pay the membership fee, do so ASAP if you want to come to the social. It really is worth it. To pay go to the campus rec desk in front of the gym and ask to join the ski club.

T-shirts
If you have not picked up your t-shirt yet, please email ski@uwo.ca and we will arrange to bring a shirt to the social for you.

Clubs week is over… to the relief of the executive I’m sure who put in a lot of hours. Thanks guys.

The reason why we don’t know yet is because last year the Wave would kick us out at 7 or 9pm depending on the night and turn into 19+ only as it is a bar.

The UWO Ski Club has been steadily growing and improving over the past three years, and I have full confidence that this trend will continue under their watch. I’d also like to extend a special thanks to both Jaimelynn Russell and Raquel Duchen for all of the assistance they provided to the club over the past year, as well as all the members (now friends) who have made my 4 years on the executive an entirely worthwhile and memorable experience.
